The Web site RealClearPolitics.com has received funding from a new investor and unveiled a redesign that includes the addition of an Opinion BuzzTracker to identify the most popular stories on the political Web logs.
“With this new site, we are truly taking advantage of the Web’s interactivity to provide users with a more complete overview of what is happening in the world of politics,” one of the site’s co-founders, John McIntyre, said. He said the addition of the Opinion BuzzTracker is “an attempt to keep abreast of what is really hot in the blogosphere.” The feature uses an automated filtering system and is updated hourly.
The Web site was started in 2000 by Mr. McIntyre and a co-founder, Tom Bevan. They are based in Chicago.
The new design also includes a feature that allows readers to nominate articles of interest and then vote on which ones should be featured on the site. Readers also can access audio and video segments and transcripts of certain political speeches and debates. Another new feature lets readers see content organized by topic and allows them to subscribe to receive news updates organized by category.
The Web site’s readership has grown steadily since its founding, Mr. McIntyre said, and it now attracts about 500,000 unique visitors each month.
“RealClearPolitics.com has become indispensable to anyone, in or outside of journalism, who’s interested in politics, policy, or world affairs,” the executive editor of the Weekly Standard and a Fox News contributor, Fred Barnes, said in a statement.
