SETTING THE STAGE
Twenty new large-scale photographs by Gregory Crewdson are on display through Saturday in “Beneath the Roses.” In this show, Mr. Crewdson uses his elaborately cinematic style to caputre a pregnant woman alone on street corner, a songbird perched on a bedroom vanity, and a businessman standing in the rain, among other ambiguous scenes. Through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Luhring Augustine, 531 W. 24th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, 212-206-9100, free.
SIBERIAN SCENES
Anna Shteynshleyger’s photographs of contemporary Siberia are on view through Thursday at Moti Hasson Gallery. Ms. Shteynshleyger grew up in Moscow, emigrated to America in 1992 at 15, and traveled to Siberia in 2001 and 2002 to photograph a series of mostly barren landscapes. Through Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Moti Hasson Gallery, 330 W. 38th St., between Eighth and Ninth avenues, suite 211, 212-268-4444, free.
TREE TIME
An exhibit examines Alan Sonfist’s “Time Landscape,” a grove of trees installed as an art project at the intersection of Houston Street and La Guardia Place. The work was completed in 1978 under Mayor Koch. The gallery exhibit, “Time Landscape: Reflection,” includes original artwork, documentation of the original installation, and a few new mixed-media works. Through Saturday, July 2, Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Paul Rodgers/9W Gallery, 529 W. 20th St., between Tenth Avenue and the West Side Highway, ninth floor, 212-414-9810, free.
