PORTRAITS OF ISRAEL Stanley Batkin’s photographs of Israelis are on display in “Faces of Israel.” He has captured more than 20,000 Israelis on camera over the course of his career, including immigrants from Ethiopia and Russia, prime ministers, professors, shopkeepers, and journalists. His work is also currently on display at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. IN PRAISE OF PRINT Maureen Mullarkey’s collage-reliefs are on display today in “Gutenberg Elegies.” She uses found books, book covers, frontispieces, end papers, and inscriptions to create what she calls “small acts of praise for the physical properties of books in a digital age.” Ms. Mullarkey contributes art criticism to The New York Sun.
