CINCO AT THE COPA
A Cinco de Mayo gala at the Copacabana benefits the New York City chapter of the National Mutltiple Sclerosis Society. Guests will enjoy dancing, a silent auction, and south-of-the-border food and drinks. Thursday, 7-11 p.m., Copacabana, 560 W. 34th St. at Eleventh Avenue, 212-463-7787, $150.
YOUNG ART LOVERS
A party and auction benefit the Whitney Museum’s Independent Studies Program. The “Art Party” draws a young guest list, reflected by its list of chairmen, including Alan Cumming, Milla Jovovich, Rachel Feinstein, Zac Posen, and the director of the Whitney, Adam Weinberg. Rene Risque and the Art Lovers provide louche lounge music, and a silent auction includes work by Alexis Rockwell, Toland Grinnell, and others. The ISP is a studio, art curatorial, and critical studies graduate program that is now in its 39th year. Thursday, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Splashlight Studios, 529 W. 35th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, 212-671-1818, $150 in advance, $250 at the door.
