HIGH FIVE
A reading celebrates the fifth print issue of the literary journal Pindeldyboz on a numerically appropriate evening: the fifth day of the fifth month in 2005. Readers include contributors Jami Attenberg, Benjamin Swire, Kate Hill Cantrill, Stacey Gottlieb, and Joshua Mandelbaum. There will also be a “pirate puppet punk-rock performance” by Jollyship the Whiz-Bang. Tonight, 7 p.m., Galapagos, 70 N. 6th St., between Kent and Wythe avenues, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-782-5188, $5.
TAKE ONE
Hershey promotes its latest chocolate bar, Take 5, with a generous stunt. The company will attempt to give away 5 million candy bars in five hours today (that’s 227 bars a second). Those who crave a Take 5 bar can find them at six Manhattan locations, including Grand Central Terminal. Today, noon-5 p.m., please go to www.hersheys.com for full list of locations.
CINCO AT THE COPA
A Cinco de Mayo gala at the Copacabana benefits the New York City chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Guests will enjoy dancing, a silent auction, and south-of-the-border food and drinks. Tonight, 7-11 p.m., Copacabana, 560 W. 34th St. at Eleventh Avenue, 212-463-7787, $150.
