DUCK AND CATERPILLAR The children’s theater company Literally Alive performs two shows, “The Ugly Duckling” (noon) and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” (2 p.m.). Each performance includes an art workshop. Saturday, Governors Island, ferries leave from the Battery Maritime Building, Slip 7, adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, free. Note: Ferry costs $6, $3 for seniors and children.


PUTT AROUND The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy hosts a day of miniature golf at the course in the park. Sunday, noon–5 p.m., Brooklyn Bridge Park, 1 Main St. at Plymouth Street, Brooklyn, 718-802-0603, free.


KIPS FOR KIDS The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club hosts its fifth annual KidsDay, a street festival complete with local entertainment, free prizes and raffles, health and dental screenings, and food. Kips Bay also will announce the winners of a drawing and essay contest on the meaning of family. Sunday, noon–5 p.m., Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, 1930 Randall Ave., between White Plains Road and Pugsley Avenue, Bronx, 718-893-8254 ext. 234, free.


KEEPING COOL The Central Park Zoo presents its annual Chill Out weekend inspired by the coolest zoo residents: polar bears and penguins. Highlights include facials for adults, free polar bear T-shirts for children, ice carving displays, a presentation about polar bears, and other “Arctic activities.” Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Central Park Zoo, 64th Street and Fifth Avenue, 212-439-6500, $5 general, $1.25 seniors, $1 children.
