ZOOKEEPER’S WORLD The Prospect Park Zoo presents a “Keeping Up With Keepers” weekend. Children learn how to train sea lions, make special toys for baboons, and visit keepers on the job. ALL THE ARTS More than 100 of the city’s museums and arts, cultural, and performance organizations come together for the fifth annual CultureFest, a weekend outdoor festival. Participants include the American Symphony Orchestra, the Big Apple Circus, and the Prospect Park and Queens zoos. Activities include face painting, puppet shows, arts and crafts, and musical performances. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Battery Park, between Battery Place, State Street, and the New York Harbor, 212-484-1222, free.
RHYTHMS AND RHYMES Writers Liz Rosenberg and Hal Sirowitz present “Writing Poetry Together,” a poetry workshop for children. Kids ages 4-10 can learn how to write haikus and take turns at a gigantic magnetic poetry board. MOVING MARIONETTES Puppetworks presents “Beauty and the Beast,” the classic fairy tale about not judging a book (or a beast) by its cover. Nicolas Coppola created the puppets.
