NEW YORK’S FINEST The New York City Police Museum hosts its first Family Day, complete with demonstrations by NYPD special units. Children can also have their pictures taken in a police uniform, and vintage NYPD patrol cars are on display. McGruff the Crime Dog, a “secret” superhero, and a clown will distribute balloons, fake tattoos, popcorn, and cotton candy. Saturday, noon-4 p.m., New York City Police Museum, 100 Old Slip, between Water and South streets, 212-480-3100, free.


KNIGHTS AND MAIDENS The Medieval Festival arrives at Fort Tryon Park with authentic music, dance, magic, minstrels, jugglers, and jesters. In the afternoon, four knights joust on horseback. Sunday, noon-6 p.m., the Cloisters, Fort Tryon Park, Margaret Corbin Circle and Fort Washington Avenue, 212-795-1600, free.
