FEVER LOVE The Goethe-Institut New York presents a screening of Douglas Sirk’s “La Habanera” (1937), a melodrama of love and a raging virus. A spirited Swedish woman takes a cruise to Puerto Rico and falls in love with a rich land-owner but after a decade, the marriage sours. A visit from her childhood friend, a doctor investigating a fever spreading in the area, turns into a chance to release her anger at her husband and his island. INNOCENCE ABROAD In “Comedie de l’innocence” (2000), a boy announces to his mother on his 9th birthday that he has a new name and a new mother. Isabelle Huppert stars as the surprised mother.
