APPALACHIAN TRAIL Traveling Cinema kicks off the series “What’s So Funny About Appalachia?” – a four-week series of documentaries. Opening night features screenings of Joe Gray’s “Lord and Father” (1982) and “The Sunny Side of Life” (1985), about the Carter Family Fold in Virginia. ZUCKER BROTHERS Dani Levy’s “Go for Zucker!” (2004), a comedy about two estranged brothers – one secular, one an Orthodox Jew – has a preview screening followed by a question-and-answer session. ZERO AND FRIENDS The new film “As Smart as They Are: The Author Project” documents the collaboration between McSweeney’s Brooklyn house band One Ring Zero and an ensemble of authors including Paul Auster, Dave Eggers, Jonathan Lethem, Rick Moody, Jonathan Ames, and Myla Goldberg. A screening next week is preceded by a screening of “Ever Vigilant, Ever True,” a short film starring comedian Patton Oswalt.
