DURAS THE DIRECTOR “Ecrire” (1993), which features the novelist, screenwriter, and director Marguerite Duras in conversation with director Benoit Jacquot, is screened by the French Institute/Alliance Francaise. It is paired with “L’Homme atlantique” (1981), for which Duras uses a blank screen for half of the film as she reads from her book “L’Homme atlantique.”The films are presented as part of the series “To Murder the Cinema,”a tribute to Duras, who died 10 years ago. SHORT SCENES The Independent Feature Project presents a program of short films. They cover subjects including a homeless child trying to survive a winter day in New York City, the struggle to stay happy, a high school loser who tries to help the society that shunned him, and the stories of immigrants from France, Georgia, and Mexico.
