MAS MARGARITAS The American Museum of Natural History’s Adventures in the Global Kitchen series features a talk by author Zarela Martinez about Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday. Audience members are able to sample Ms. Martinez’s mole sauce and pan de muertos (Day of the Dead bread). Tonight, 7 p.m., AMNH, Linder Theater, 77th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, 212-769-5200, $18 general, $15 students, seniors, and members.

BON APPÉTIT The Jewish Community Center offers the “Essentials of French Cooking,” featuring chef and teacher David Glickman. Students learn to make Gruyère cheese puffs, pan-seared halibut, and an apple and plum tart. Monday, 7 p.m., JCC, 334 Amsterdam Ave. at 76th Street, 646-505-5708, $75–$85.
