REFLECTING ON REFLECTION
Artists and writers Julie Ault and Martin Beck curated the group exhibit “Mirage” at Alexander and Bonin. The exhibit’s title comes from a passage from John C. Van Dyke’s 1901 book “The Desert” describing mirages in the deserts of the American Southwest. Works on view, which explore literal and metaphorical reflection, include photography and a wide variety of sculpture. At left is Robert Kinmont’s “8 Natural Handstands” (c. 1967) and above is Rodney Graham’s upturned photograph “Old Growth Cedar (#2) Seymour Reservoir” (2002). Through Friday, July 29, Alexander and Bonin, 132 Tenth Ave., between 18th and 19th streets, Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Alexander and Bonin, 132 Tenth Ave. at 18th Street, 212-367-7474, free.
