John Smith’s writings on the Jamestown colony and an original 1640s map of America are highlights of the first leg of the rotating exhibit “History Made Here.” Each week, three new documents go on display, starting with “The New World” and moving into “Native American Dictionaries” and “The Constitution,” among others. Friday through August 14, Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West at 77th Street, 212-873-3400, $10 general, $5 seniors, teachers, and students.
