CHANGING TIMES The 25-minute film “Timescapes” uses animated maps, photographs, prints, and paintings to document 400 years of New York City development. Its co-creator, author James Sanders, said that “it’s based on the idea that … one thing we have in common with earlier New Yorkers is that we walk the same streets they did.” With that in mind, the film seeks to give the effect of peeling back layers of historic maps to give a sweeping overview of the city’s history. Ongoing, Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. museum open, 4:15 p.m. last screening, Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Ave., between 103rd and 104th streets, 212-534-1672, $7 general, $5 seniors, students, and children.
