DOWNTOWN DELIGHTS The River to River Festival offers more than 500 free events in Lower Manhattan. Friday, a performance by Audra McDonald pays tribute to the “Swedish nightingale,” Jenny Lind. CHORUS GIRLS (AND BOYS) The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Children’s Chorus holds its annual concert. Children’s choruses from the conservatory and from P.S. 34 and P.S. 154 perform songs including “Oh! MARAH AND FAN Writer and pop-music aficionado Nick Hornby gushed about the Philadelphia indie rock band Marah in an op-ed piece for the New York Times last year. Before a concert by the band this weekend, he’ll read from a collection of unpublished essays about various bands, and then Marah will cover songs by those artists. They’ll follow with a full set of their own bluesy tunes. Sunday, 8 p.m. doors open, Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey St. at Bowery, 212-533-2111, $20. Note: Ages 21 and over.
