SUPER-WOMEN The Brooklyn Women’s Chorus dedicates its spring concert, “Stronger Than Your Average Superhero,” to the late feminist activist and songwriter Jolie Rickman, who passed away in January at age 34 after a battle with ovarian cancer. Friday, 8 p.m., Good Coffee House at the Brooklyn Society of Ethical Culture, 53 Prospect Park West at 2nd Street, Park Slope, 718-230-4999, donation $10, $6 for children.


CELESTIAL VOICE The southern Italian vocalist, percussionist, and dancer, Alessandra Belloni, joins musicians from Brazil and Africa for “The Night of the Shooting Stars.” Saturday, 8 p.m., Synod Hall, Amsterdam Avenue at 110th Street, 212-665-4516, $20 general, $15 for seniors and students.


BRASS BOOSTERS The Hora Decima Brass Ensemble, an organization dedicated to the preservation, presentation, and promotion of brass instruments, showcases trumpets, trombones, and French horns at its performances. Featured on the program this weekend is trumpeter Dominic Derasse. Sunday, 7 p.m., Christ & St. Stephen’s Church, 120 W. 69th St., between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, 718-418-2419, admission by donation, $15 suggested.


DARK ROCKER Singer Alice Texas presents pained ballads from her recent album “Sad Days.” Joining Ms. Texas on stage are guitarist Peter Mavrogeorgis, bassist Danton Boller, and drummer David Berger. The group will accompany her on her upcoming U.S. tour. Monday, 8 p.m., Mercury Lounge, 217 E. Houston St. at Essex Street, 212-260-4700, $10.


POETRY IN MOTION Conductor Lawrence D. “Butch” Morris turns the voices of 18 poets into musical instruments as part of his “A Chorus of Poets” performance. The improvisational composition uses the human voice to show how technology affects popular culture. Money raised goes toward the publication of the next issue of Tribes magazine. Tuesday, 9 p.m., the Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe, 236 E. Third St., 212-674-3778, $10.
