INDIE-ROCK ALERT Siren Festival is the annual all-day music festival that draws hipsters to Coney Island like, well, a siren. This year’s lineup is headed by Spoon and the Mates of State, with performances throughout the day by Brendan Benson, VHS or Beta, the Dears, Ambulance Ltd., and many others. STEELY CAROLYN Jazz recording artist Carolyn Leonhart, the longtime lead backup vocalist for Steely Dan, performs songs from her latest album, “New 8th Day.” She is accompanied by Wayne Escoffery on tenor saxophone, Dan Kaufman on piano, Gary Wang on bass, and Aaron Thurston on drums. CITY COMPOSERS The Brooklyn Philharmonic presents a program of works by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Offenbach, and Gershwin, all composers who influenced or were influenced by music in New York. The featured violinist is Tai Murray, who performs under the baton of guest conductor Chelsea Tipton. Saturday, 7 p.m. gates open, 8 p.m. concert, Prospect Park Bandshell, Prospect Park West and 9th Street, Brooklyn, 718-488-5700, $3 suggested donation.


CROONING IN THE CATSKILLS Actress Maureen McGovern, who is currently playing Marmee in Broadway’s “Little Women: The Musical,” performs in the Catskills as part of the Belleayre Music Festival.
