JAZZ AND CLASSICAL Violist Yuri Bashmet and jazz saxophonist Igor Butman perform with their orchestras in “Where Classical Meets Jazz,” a program that includes the American premiere of composer Igor Raykhelson’s “Jazz Suite for Viola, Saxophone, Piano, and Orchestra.” The concert also features pieces from the classical repertoire of the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra and jazz arrangements of Russian classics by Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. SPANISH HARLEM TUNES The Blue Note presents the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The performance features pianist Oscar Hernandez, bassist Hector “Maximo” Rodriguez, saxophonist Mitch Frohman, trumpeters John Walsh and Pete Nater, trombonist Dan Reagan, percussionists Pablo Nunez and Bobby Allende, and vocalists Ray De La Paz, Marco Bermudez, and Willie Torres. TRIUMPHANT SCORE Kane Street Synagogue and the Brooklyn Philharmonic present a performance of “Judas Maccabeus,” Handel’s oratorio about the triumph of the few over the many. The performance features members of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and Chorus under the direction of Aaron Smith.
