RING IT IN The Vermeer Quartet, along with baritone Thomas Hampson and pianist Craig Rutenberg, perform the inaugural concert in Gilder Lehrman Hall at the newly renovated Morgan Library. COUNTRY TIME The resident vocalist and mandolin player of the band Nickel Creek, Chris Thile, plays contemporary pop, bluegrass, and country in a solo performance. Tonight, 10 p.m., the Living Room, 154 Ludlow St., between Stanton and Rivington streets, 212-533-7325, $10.


BELA’S BEAUTIES The Borromeo String Quartet performs Bartok’s String Quartet No. 5, Sz. 102, as part of the Look & Listen Festival, honoring music in Lower Midtown. Friday, 8 p.m., Betty Cuningham Gallery, 541 W. 25th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, 718-622-6266, $10.


EASTERN SWING Jazz pianist Kuni Mikami combines big band style with traditional Japanese folk music for “Tokyo Jazz,” a performance sponsored by the Flushing Council on Culture. Mr. Mikami performs with the Make-Believe Ballroom Orchestra and the Jump, Jive, and Wailers. DOWN HOME COUNTRY Traditional bluegrass is celebrated with a performance by the local band James Reams and the Barnstormers. The band recently released “Wild Card,” an album of bluegrass favorites.
