SCENES FROM AN OPERA Trinity Institute presents a performance of scenes from Jake Heggie’s opera version of “Dead Man Walking.” The opera includes a libretto by Terrance McNally and is based on the book by Sister Helen Prejean. Scenes from the opera will be performed by mezzo-sopranos Frederica von Stade and Joyce DiDonato,joined by the Trinity Choir, conducted by Owen Burdick. Between scenes, Sister Prejean, Mr. Heggie, and Ms. von Stade will discuss their collaboration in creating the work. Tonight, 8 p.m., Trinity Church, Broadway and Wall Street, 212-279-4200, $30-$100.
