HAPPY 150TH The New York Review of Books celebrates the publication of the 150th title in its NYRB Classics series with several readings from its catalog. Author John Banville will read from the latest reissue title, J.G. Farrell’s “The Singapore Grip.” Jonathan Lethem reads from Malcolm Braly’s prison novel “On the Yard” and Deborah Eisenberg from Dorothy Baker’s “Cassandra at the Wedding.” The editor of the series, Edwin Frank, introduces the event (tonight, 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble Union Square, 33 E. 17th St. at Broadway, 212-253-0810, free). The next evening, Messrs. Banville and Frank celebrate with another reading (tomorrow, 7 p.m., Three Lives Bookstore, 154 W. 10th St. at Waverly Place, 212-741-2069, free).
LAMBDA FINALISTS Rachel Kramer Bussell, Helen Boyd, Aaron Krach, and other finalists for the Lambda Literary Awards gather for a reading and reception. The awards honor the year’s best lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender literature. The ceremony will take place June 2 at the CUNY Graduate Center.
