EARTH WORKS “Knowing the World Through Sound” is a daylong symposium and evening concert that brings together sound artists, composers, environmentalists, and educators to look at music and sound as a way of exploring the world and engaging listeners in environmental awareness. A day of panels and workshops, including a keynote speech by the executive director of New York City Audubon Society, E.J. McAdams, culminates in a concert by Steven Feld and Miya Masaoka, among others. Sunday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., New York University, Frederick Loewe Theater, 35 W. 4th St. at Greene Street, 212-998-5422, free, reservations required for the two morning workshops.
