CRITICAL MASS
The New York Public Library’s Paul Holdengraber moderates “The Critic as Artist,” a conversation about the benefits of choosing a nonacademic career. The panelists are writers Paul Berman, Jeremy Eichler, Ed ward Rothstein, Jean Strouse, and James Wood. A professor of French and comparative literature at the Graduate Center, Andre Aciman, serves as host. ON ISRAEL
Writer Donna Rosenthal discusses her book “The Israelis: Ordinary People in an Extraordinary Land” (The Free Press). She is joined by two of her subjects, the grandson of the Syrian-Egyptian co-founder of the Israeli Air Force and the daughter of illiterate Yemenite immigrants.
