BABBLING BROOK


The Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Harvey Theater was restored in 1987 for a production of Peter Brook’s “The Mahabharata.” The director discusses his career with his biographer, Michael Kustow,from the same stage 18 years later. EMOTION IN PAINTING


The author of “Vermeer in Bosnia” (Pantheon), Lawrence Weschler, talks about how the painter addresses peacefulness and fear in his work.Proceeds from the lecture, titled “Serenity and Terror in Vermeer, and After,” go to the Brooklyn writing center 826NYC. CREATIVITY ON CANVAS


Painter Alex Katz discusses his influences and creative process as part of the “ArtTalks” series. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Katz is best known for his large-scale portraits and landscapes.
