MORTALITY MUSINGS The two-day conference “Thoughts on War, Death, and Freedom,” which examines the psychology of political violence, opens with Charles Strozier’s keynote speech on “Death, Fundamentalism, and the New Terrorism.” Mr. Strozier is a psychoanalyst and the author of “Apocalypse: On the Psychology of Fundamentalism in America” (Beacon Press). A screening of Patrick Shen and Greg Bennick’s documentary “Flight From Death: The Quest for Immortality,” narrated by Gabriel Byrne, follows. ON PHOTOGRAPHY Artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, known for his photographs of architecture and sculpture, talks about his work with the Whitney’s Adam Weinberg.
