RARE ESSENCES The Center for Architecture plays host to a discussion on the transformation of Fresh Kills landfill, the world’s largest dump, into a 2,200-acre public park. The talk is presented in conjunction with a six-channel video-installation, “Penetration and Transparency, 2001-2002,” an “exploration” of Fresh Kills by Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Kathy Brew, and Roberto Guerra.The center’s Peter Reed,a curator at MOMA; a commissioner at the Sanitation Department, Phillip Gleason, and Ms. Ukeles, who is associated with the Percent for Art program, will talk. Percent for Art is a government program that allocates funds used in construction projects for the creation of permanent public art.
