BEHIND CLOSED DOORS


The New York Junior League offers tours of private homes this weekend, uptown houses one day, downtown the next. Each day begins with breakfast and a brief lecture and ends with a wrap-up cocktail party. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., begins at the New York Junior League building, 130 E. 80th St., between Park and Lexington avenues, 212-288-6220 ext. 273, $95 in advance for one day, $110 at the door for one day, $150 for both days, $30 breakfast lecture, $75 cocktail party.


STUDIO STROLL


More than 100 artists throw open the doors to their work spaces for the TriBeCa Open Artist Studio Tour. This year’s participants include photographer Brian Riley, sculptor Karen Kettering Dimit, and painter Jill Hoffman. Saturday through Monday, 1-6 p.m., free. Note: Maps can be picked up at several locations listed at www.toastartwalk.com.


WHITMAN’S CITY


A “Bowery and Canal” walking tour explores Walt Whitman’s New York. The stroll begins in Manhattan and crosses the Brooklyn Bridge, stopping at spots associated with Whitman’s “love of New York City.” Saturday, 1:30 p.m., meet on the northeast corner of Broadway and Duane Street, 212-979-8013, $12 general, $10 seniors and students.


GREENWICH GAMBOL


The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation presents its annual self-guided tour of private homes in the neighborhood. A cocktail reception follows (5-7 p.m.). Sunday, 12:30-5 p.m., begins at Plane Space, 102 Charles St., between Bleecker and Hudson streets, 212-475-9585 ext. 32, $95 tour only, $225 tour and reception.
