The film festival is not all that’s going on in TriBeCa. Here are some other events happening in the neighborhood during the next few weeks.
ART
GALLERY GOING Many Tribeca galleries extend their evening hours and remain open on Sundays during the duration of the film festival. Abstract paintings by Sharon Bartel-Clements are on display at one such gallery.

Please go to www.cherylpelavin.com/TGAfull.html for a complete list of galleries.
BENEFIT
SWEET STUFF “La Dolce Vita” is the theme of this year’s TriBeCa Ball. Fittingly, Dolce & Gabbana designed the decor at the gala downtown dinner. Eileen Guggenheim and Russell Wilkinson are the evening’s honorary chairs. The party is a benefit for the New York Academy of Art, a graduate school devoted to teaching figurative painting, sculpture, and drawing. Thursday, April 21, 7:30 p.m. cocktails, 8:30 p.m. dinner, Skylight, 275 Hudson St. at Dominick Street, 212-759-2800 ext. 16, $1,000.
FAMILY
HAIR-RAISING The new all-ages production at the Manhattan Children’s Theatre is a twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Rapunzel.” In this musical version, the long-haired captive and her rescuer, who is not who he seems to be, work together to defeat the witch. Saturday through Sunday, May 22, Saturday and Sunday, noon and 2 p.m., Manhattan Children’s Theatre, 380 Broadway at White Street, 212-226-4085 for information, 212-352-3101 for tickets, $15 general, $10 children.
FILM
SHORT STUFF The TriBeCa Underground Film Festival, which screens only short films, takes place during that other neighborhood movie fest. Wednesday, April 27, through Saturday, April 30, daily, 7-9 p.m., Ice House building, 22-26 Ericsson Pl., at Varick and Beach streets, free. See www.tribecaundergroundfilmfestival.org for full schedule.

More than 100 artists throw open the doors to their work spaces for the TriBeCa Open Artist Studio Tour. This year’s participants include photographer Brian Riley, sculptor Karen Kettering Dimit, and painter Jill Hoffman. Saturday, April 30, through Monday, May 2, 1-6 p.m., free.
