A dispatch from Bangkok about the murder of two members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses is the first instance since the murder of Daniel Pearl of the use of this particular barbarism. The heads were left in bags in a bazaar at Jolo Island. A note declared the victims to have been “infidels.” According to the Daily Telegraph, the note said: “Those who do not believe in Allah will suffer the same fate.” The victims had been kidnapped by Islamic rebels linked to Osama bin Laden. They were part of an Avon cosmetics sales team that had been abducted at gun point.
