New York’s fiscal watchdog, the Citizens Budget Commission, has a bone to pick with Mayor Zohran Mamdani as he readies the release on Tuesday of his budget. Hizzoner is grappling with how to pay for billions in campaign spending vows. Yet the city faces a budget gap of at least $7 billion on its current obligations. So much for new spending. The governor just chipped in $1.5 billion in state funds as a mini-bailout. What, though, about spending cuts?
