MOVE ON UP
Luke Ostrom, chef de cuisine of A Voce (41 Madison Ave. at 26th Street, 212-545-8555), is currently running the kitchen there, as executive chef Andrew Carmellini left about three weeks ago.
STEAK-ING CLAIM
Speaking of A Voce, the man who was its first general manager, Michael Glick, opened his own steak house on the Upper East Side yesterday. At Parlor (1600 Third Ave. at 90th Street, 212-423-5888), chef Lucas Billheimer, formerly of Lure, is serving burgers and lobster rolls, as well as yellowfin tuna with edamame puree, bok choy, and pink grapefruit. Steak house classics are available, too.
FIVE-STAR GENERALS
Speaking of general managers, Robert Smith has taken that post at Dovetail (103 W. 77th St. at Columbus Avenue, 212-362-3800), replacing John McKee, who is now director of operations at Ammos (52 Vanderbilt Ave., between 44th and 45th streets, 212-922-9999). Mr. Smith has worked as an assistant general manager at the Little Nell Hotel in Aspen, Colo., and at the French Laundry in Yountville, Calif.
PRIVATIZING
Sheridan Square (138 Seventh Ave. S. at 10th Street, 212-352-2237) has taken over the adjoining space that used to be Tasca, and turning it into a private dining room. A spokesman said it should be ready by the first week in July.
COME BACK, JIMMY
James Restaurant has opened in Prospect Heights (605 Carlton Ave. at St. Mark’s Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-942-4255). Early summer menu items include crispy sweetbreads with rhubarb honey glaze and dandelion greens, shell steak with stinging nettles and pepper sauce, and fava bean ravioli in morel broth with ramp greens.
FOUR-LEAF LUCKY
Julie Reiner of Flatiron Lounge has opened a place for cocktail lovers in Carroll Gardens. Clover Club (210 Smith St., between Baltic and Butler streets, Brooklyn, 718-855-7939) offers a couple dozen specialty cocktails. Stylish bar food such as molasses-glazed wings and lamb burgers are available, too.
GOLDEN AMBER
Anyone wanting to know the difference between 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old Glenfiddich can find out tomorrow — for free — from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Carnegie Club (156 W. 56th St., between Sixth and Seventh avenues, 212-957-9676). The Scotch’s brand ambassador, Heather Greene, will be pouring it, and serving summer scotch cocktails, while the Mark Rapp Group and Derek Lee Bronston provide musical entertainment.
HANGOVER ELSEWHERE
Guests who want to have brunch at Eleven Madison Park (11 Madison Ave. at 24th Street, 212-889-0905) have until July 13 to do it. The restaurant is discontinuing Saturday Brunch and is closing on Sundays.
CITY’S CREAM
A monthlong ice cream and sorbet festival starts today at all three locations of Rosa Mexicano (1063 First Ave. at 58th Street, 212-753-7407, 61 Columbus Ave. at 62nd Street, 212-977-7700, and 9 E. 18th St., between Fifth Avenue and Broadway 212-533-3350). Special flavors include avocado, mango-rum, Tascalate (chocolate, achiote, chile, brown sugar, and corn), passion fruit, and a beet sorbet called “Vampiro.” Three scoops are $8.50.
AHEAD OF THE…
Kurve (87 2nd Ave. at 5th Street, no phone number), an Asian fusion restaurant designed by Karim Rashid and featuring the food of Thai chef Andy Yang of Rhong-Tiam, is opening softly this Tuesday. The grand opening will follow a week later.
