The annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day parade will take place Sunday in Park Slope. Many restaurants near the parade route, including those noted below, will offer holiday specials more sophisticated than green bagels and beer.
Ladybird Bakery (1112 Eighth Ave. at 12th Street, 718-499-8108) will sell $2 Irish soda bread muffins, a cakier version of the traditional soda bread, along with a variety of shamrock-shaped cookies and $3.25 green velvet cupcakes.
The Park Slope Ale House (356 Sixth Ave. at 5th Street, 718-788-1756) will serve corned beef and cabbage throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Chip Shop (383 Fifth Ave. at 6th Street, 718-832-7701) will make copious amounts of baked corned beef colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage and carrots) for the family set. At the 12th Street Bar & Grill (1123 Eighth Ave. at 12th Street, 718-965-9526), there will be shepherd’s pie served in the dining room, and corned beef and whiskey specials at the bar. And if you’re heading to Brooklyn Heights after the parade, Eamonn’s (174 Montague St. at Clinton Street, 718-596-4969), a 15-year-old Irish pub and restaurant, will serve up corned beef and cabbage and shepherd’s pie — as live pipe bands play in the background.
