JERUSALEM (AP) – Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with Palestinian Arab President Mahmoud Abbas next week and discuss security issues, the prime minister’s office said Tuesday.
In the past two weeks, the militant group Hamas has launched more than 250 rockets, killing two Israeli civilians in the town of Sderot, and causing thousands of its residents to flee to safer ground.
Mr. Abbas has called on militants to take the first step in forging a new truce with Israel.
The exact date and place of next week’s meeting have not been set, the prime minister’s office said
