JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — An opposition activist was stabbed to death at his home in rural Zimbabwe, marking the first murder in President Mugabe’s renewed terror campaign. Since the presidential election last month, about 100 supporters of the Movement for Democratic Change have been assaulted, with 29 victims being admitted to one Harare clinic on Saturday afternoon alone. Official results for the presidential poll have still not been released 17 days after the votes were cast. But independent monitors say that the MDC leader defeated Mr. Mugabe.
