Interpol Releases Arrest Warrant in Monaco Bombing That Targeted Ukrainian Oligarch

An international search is underway for a Ukrainian woman wanted in connection with a bomb attack at Monaco that reportedly targeted a Ukrainian oligarch who has links to Russia.A Monaco prosecutor, on Friday, said that Anastasiia Berezovska was dressed like a man when she allegedly planted a remote-controlled bomb at an apartment building near the French border.Interpol released photos of Ms. Berezovska in a Red Notice warning governments worldwide that she is wanted. Monaco’s deputy prosecutor, Morgan Raymond, told reporters that Ms. Berezovska was identified through a thorough review of CCTV footage. She escaped into France in a rented car before passing through several European countries and was last seen in Germany, Mr. Raymond said.The Interpol notice states that Ms. Berezovska has a tattoo — possibly of a snake — on her right arm from her shoulder to the elbow. She has dark hair and speaks German.Mr. Raymond said investigators are now looking for potential accomplices. “The relative sophistication of the explosive device and the modus operandi suggest that the individual who planted it did not act alone,” Mr. Raymond said.Ms. Berezovska is believed to have carried out reconnaissance on the neighborhood in the days before the attack. Mr. Raymond says she put a backpack containing the bomb at the front door of the building as the victims walked home from dinner. Ms. Berezovska then allegedly remotely detonated it as they returned to the building.Monaco authorities haven’t released information on the victims but European media have identified them as sanctioned businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, his mistress, and the woman’s 13-year-old child. Mr. Yermolaiev and the child were initially listed in serious condition but are improving. The woman was still listed in critical condition.Mr. Yermolaiev renounced his Ukrainian citizenship in 2019 and became a citizen of Cyprus. Ukraine sanctioned Mr. Yermolaiev in 2023, alleging that his company was carrying out operations in Crimea, annexed by Moscow in 2014. Mr. Yermolaiev has denied the accusation.Monaco officials initially indicated that the attack was believed to be tied to organized crime, Le Monde reported. The attack “shocked” residents in the principality as violent crime is very rare in Monaco. Prince Albert II of Monaco called the attack a “heinous crime.”
