Iran Places $10 Million Bounty on Barron Trump, Saying He Is Being ‘Fully Monitored’

A new video from Iran claims that there is now a $10 million bounty on Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Trump who currently attends New York University. In the video, an Iranian narrator claims that the president’s son is being “fully monitored” at school. The threat comes amid heightened tensions with the Islamic Republic, as the elder Mr. Trump digs in and is considering additional attacks on Iran. Peace talks are currently stalled and Iran continues to exert influence over the Strait of Hormuz, which is contributing to higher gas prices here in the United States ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The menacing video featuring the president’s son, however, is an especially ugly escalation. The video was first reported by Euronews, which also offered a translation of the narrator and the text shown across the screen. The speaker claims that Iranians have identified some of Mr. Trump’s accounts online, including his accounts on Xbox, Discord, and FIFA video games. In the video, the creators flash an image of NYU’s dorms at the Constance Milstein and Family Global Academic Center, which is located at Washington D.C. as part of NYU’s satellite campus. The video is titled, “Where and how should we kill Barron Trump?” It was broadcast on Tasnim News Agency, an outlet affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Another translation of the video’s audio — this one done by Jordan-based outlet Al Bawaba — says that Iranians have been able to get close to the president’s son while at school. The video ends with the narrator declaring: “This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us!” Earlier this summer, a similar video was released about first lady Melania Trump. That video claimed that there would be a reward for anyone who assassinated the first lady, and showed viewers some of her favorite places to shop. This is not the first time that the Trump family has personally faced threats from Iran. In 2024, a man was arrested in New York on terrorism charges for plotting to kill the elder Mr. Trump, who at that time was a private citizen running for president. The would-be assassin, Asif Merchant, was convicted earlier this year. The threat against the president’s youngest child comes at the same time that the administration is planning a new economic offensive against Iran. Last week, Mr. Trump announced what he calls an “ECONOMIC D-DAY” that is coming for Iran, declaring that it will include “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale.”In an opinion piece for the Financial Times which was published on Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote that the president’s economic D-Day would be “the single greatest financial offensive ever” and that the war with Iran is “entering its endgame.” Mr. Bessent is expected to announce details of that plan during a press conference on Monday afternoon.
