A new book on citizen activism and public service by President Clinton will be published in September, according to Sonny Mehta, editor in chief of Alfred A. Knopf.

The book, “Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World,” will focus on individual activists, some well known and others obscure, who have brought about meaningful change. Mr. Clinton will embark on a national tour to promote the book.

A portion of Mr. Clinton’s proceeds from the book — which will hit bookstores September 4 with a first printing of 750,000 copies — will go to a variety of charities and nonprofit groups around the world.
