A woman was killed in an apartment fire in Harlem yesterday afternoon, police and fire officials said. Because police were in the process of identifying her family, the victim was only identified as a 57-year-old woman. The fire started about 12:42 p.m. in an apartment on the 30th floor of 2978 Eighth Ave. After putting out the flames, firefighters found the woman’s body. Officials said the fire, which was confined to the woman’s apartment, didn’t appear to be suspicious. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
