Police are searching for a bank robber who got away with thousands of dollars from two Manhattan banks but left behind his wallet.
The wallet contained a birth certificate, social security card, welfare benefit documents, an old pay stub, and two photo IDs that clearly identified the owner of the wallet, Cory Brown, as the man caught on the banks’ surveillance cameras, police said. Brown had previously been convicted on grand larceny auto charges and was living in a Brooklyn homeless shelter, according to police, who also found an identification card issued by the shelter in the wallet. Mr. Brown left behind the wallet in a bundle of clothes that he apparently stripped off as he fled from the second bank he allegedly robbed, a Commerce branch in Chelsea.
