Bloomberg To Speak at Penn Commencement

Mayor Bloomberg will be the commencement speaker at the University of Pennsylvania’s 252nd commencement ceremony on May 19.

The president of the university, Amy Gutmann, said in a press release cited by the Daily Pennsylvanian that the school is honored Mr. Bloomberg has agreed to speak.

“His remarkable achievements as a highly successful entrepreneur, noted philanthropist, and tireless public servant stand, in the tradition of Penn’s founder Ben Franklin, as an inspiration to us all,” she said.

A spokesman for the mayor said the city has not yet released the commencement ceremonies Mr. Bloomberg will be speaking at this year.

In 2007, he spoke at commencement ceremonies at Bard College, Tufts University, the University of Oklahoma, and New York University’s School of Medicine.
