Detectives cracked the case of the Prospect Park serial rapist after the suspect sent a text message to one of his victims, police officials said yesterday.
The suspect, Alvin Henry, 30, reportedly an Olympic sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago, has been accused in five rapes in parks in Brooklyn and Queens. Police yesterday said they were able to identify Mr. Henry after he obtained the phone number of a 15-year-old victim he attacked in April in Prospect Park. Mr. Henry allegedly sent the victim a text message on a pre-paid cell phone after the attack.
Police identified him after tracking the cell phone to the store where he bought it.
