A 14-year-old boy stabbed and killed his stepfather after an attack on the boy’s mother at their home in Queens last night.
The stepfather, who police identified as Arturo Moreno, 33, had arrived intoxicated at the family’s home in Ozone Park at about 9:30 p.m. last night, police said, and was threatening the boy’s mother with a knife.
When the boy stepped in to defend his mother, Moreno turned a large kitchen knife against him. After a struggle, the boy was able to wrestle it away. He stabbed his stepfather once, killing him.
Moreno was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police sources indicated there was a history of domestic abuse in the family.
Police also said the district attorney’s office decided not to file charges against the boy, whose name was being withheld.
