A New York City detective has been arrested for prostituting an underage girl, police officials said yesterday.

Police said the girl, 13, was a runaway who at some point came into contact with the detective, identified by police as Wayne Taylor, 35. The detective apparently took the girl with him to parties in the Jamaica section of Queens, forcing her to perform as a prostitute with his friends, police said.”He acted as her pimp,” a police source said.

Mr. Taylor had worked on the force for more than 10 years and was assigned to the Bronx and Queens Housing Bureau.

The detective was arrested yesterday after the girl reported the incidents to police. He was suspended from the force and arraigned on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, promoting prostitution, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment.
