Mayor Bloomberg has announced that Robert Lieber will be his new deputy mayor for economic development, taking over for the trusted aide who is leaving to join the mayor’s private company.

Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff is joining Bloomberg LP as president, which the mayor described as a no. 2 position at his financial information company.

Mr. Lieber comes to Mr. Bloomberg’s inner circle from the city’s economic development corporation, where he has been president for nearly a year. Previously, he was a managing director in the Global Real Estate Group at Lehman Brothers.
