Officers Turn in Badges After Robbery Charges

The two New York City police officers that were arrested on Saturday for holding up a drug dealer in New Jersey handed in their badges yesterday, police officials said.
Hector Alvarez and Miguel Castillo resigned after being arrested in Rutherford, N.J. by local law enforcement during a terrorism investigation at a local drug den, officials said.
The officers tried to rob and kidnap the drug dealer, officials said.
New Jersey prosecutors are charging Messrs. Alvarez and Castillo with armed robbery, attempted kidnapping, and burglary, officials said. They are being held on $1 million bail.
