Police Arrest Man in Rape Of Staten Island Woman, 70

Police arrested a man who allegedly raped a 70-year-old woman after breaking into her Staten Island home, police officials said.
The suspect, Julio Caesar Lainez, 41, allegedly assaulted and raped the unidentified victim at 5:15 p.m. Monday after gaining entrance to her residence in the Port Richmond section of Staten Island through a broken window, authorities said.
The victim’s hands were bound with a television cable, police sources said.
Investigators first believed that the victim had only been subject to sexual assault before thwarting her attacker, but added the rape charge after the victim was given a series of medical tests, authorities said.
Police found a fingerprint at the scene of the crime that led them to Mr. Lainez, and the victim later picked him out of a lineup, authorities said.
The newly formed Staten Island Special Victims Unit handled the investigation.
