Police Officer Hurt During Arrest Attempt in Bronx

A police officer sustained minor injuries as he was attempting to arrest a suspect during a confrontation this morning in the Bronx.
The police officer pulled the suspect over in his vehicle on West Kingsbridge Road at around 11:30 a.m., and was dragged after the suspected attempted to escape, the police commissioner, Raymond Kelly, said.
The officer had a minor cut and was in stable condition, police said. The suspect was shot by police during the confrontation, and was also in stable condition, police said.
It was the ninth shooting involving police during the first week of 2008.
