Queens District Attorney Richard Brown was sworn in for a fifth term today, his office announced.
Mr. Brown, who was first appointed to the position as an interim district attorney in June 1991, won election to the position in November 1991, followed by re-elections in 1995, 1999, 2003, and 2007.
He spent time as a judge before becoming the district attorney, presiding over the arraignment of serial killer David “Son of Sam” Berkowitz in 1977.
As Queens’ chief law enforcement officer, Mr. Brown prosecuted the two men convicted in the infamous 2000 Wendy’s massacre where seven employees of the fast-food restaurant were herded into a freezer during a robbery. Five of them were shot to death.
