A woman who taught at a Queens high school has pleaded not guilty to charges that she had sex with a 15-year-old boy.
Authorities say 22-year-old Janmattie Singh has been charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.
Ms. Singh was an English teacher at Richmond Hill High School. Authorities say she slept with the boy in Brooklyn. They say that on the same occasion she also had sex with the boy’s two 18-year-old cousins. It’s not clear whether the three were students at Ms. Singh’s school.
Ms. Singh’s lawyer says her client was victimized. She says the boy and his two 18-year-old cousins took advantage of her.
The lawyer says Ms. Singh has been on medical leave since November after suffering a nervous breakdown and was on medication at the time she had sex with the teenagers.
